The much debated “fiscal cliff” which has become law on Presidential signature will affect state and local bodies finances in several ways. Near term effect looks positive as states and local bodies with limited fund have to curtail their routine expenses as well as differing expansion plans. But notably a fall out of this “fiscal cliff” will be negative on long run as it has failed to address the real problem of balancing and restoring structural balance to federal financial problems.
